Travel Widget now available from WordPress.Org

This is an old outdated post. Please use our Travel Advice by Country widget info and support page

You can now view information about the Travel Advice widget and download from  It is suitable for WP 2.8 onwards.

As it is a new widget I’m keen for feedback – what do you like/dislike?  If there is anything stopping you from using it please let me know, and if feasible we will modify it, or create an alternative version.  You can post a message here or use the contact us form on our main Travel Information website to email us privately.

I should also have mentioned that the data is provided by the British Government Foreign & Commonwealth Office, so it should always be up to date, and the quality of information second to none.  We don’t just list separate feeds, but use an FCO index, so the list provided by the widget will stay up to date; automatically taking account of any additions (e.g. break away/new “countries”),  renames, and deletions.

P.S.  I’m pleased to see this widget in use on a variety of sites, I notice a few haven’t taken the opportunity to customise it, note in particular you can change the dropdown box width to perfectly suit your sidebar.

P.P.S.  We take security very seriously and our sites normally 403 deny access, to visitors from a few IP ranges, based on our own and other site identified “top 5” locations for spam and hacking. This only affects visitors from a few non-English Speaking countries, however we have exempted the widget and appropriate files, to allow use by all visitors – if you do come across a 403 forbidden glitch (highly unlikely) please let us know and we will investigate.
