British Embassy Finder widget for WordPress web-sites
This widget is designed for WordPress sites providing advice or assistance to British Nationals abroad. It uses Foreign Office data, but also includes maps and emails (the Foreign Office’s own Embassy search does not).
Try the demo in the right sidebar.
The widget inherits the look of your WordPress theme. However, you can change the text, colors, width of the input box, and alignment (screenshot above).
Displaying Embassy details
A new browser tab/window is opened displaying details:
Obtaining and installing the Widget on WordPress
You can obtain and install the widget in the usual way via your WordPress Dashboard. Plugins -> Add New then do a search for “Embassy” and you should see it.
Should you need them, installation instructions are available on WordPress.Org. The widget is also available to download from the same link (if you wish to do your own install).
Customising the look of the Widget
You can replace the standard/default text, and change the look of the plugin (using standard CSS values) from the Widgets page of your dashboard. The screeenshots below show a (horribly) customised Embassy widget and the configuration settings used to generate it.
If you opt to “Display Travel Advice Link” in the settings below, then the widget will include the “display travel advice” link as shown in the screenshot above. This link opens a new browser window/tab with this page of travel information tools which may be very helpful for your visitors.
